Welcome to Hubcity Mart — a local marketplace made by students, for students. Whether you're trying to sell a futon, find a ride to Walmart, or score an affordable apartment, you're in the right place.

Who We Are

We're Paribartan Dhakal and Shiron Manandhar, graduates of the University of Southern Mississippi (Class of 2020) and now working as software engineers. As former students who experienced the hassle of buying, selling, and finding things on campus, we decided to build something better — a simpler, safer way to connect with others around Hattiesburg.

Our Story

We created Hubcity Mart to simplify campus life. Instead of juggling group chats and sketchy marketplaces, USM and William Carey folks now have one go-to platform to post listings, sell items, find rideshares, and more — safely and easily.

We remembered the scramble: finding a futon, selling textbooks, or catching a ride to Walmart. So we built something better — inspired by the Maroon Marketplace at UChicago built by Euirim Choi.

What Makes Us Different

Unlike generic marketplace apps that cater to everyone, Hubcity Mart is specifically designed for students and faculty at USM and William Carey. We keep things straightforward:

• University-Verified Users: Only students and faculty with verified university email addresses can join. No random accounts. No spam. No scams. Just your campus.
• Local Focus: Everything is centered around Hattiesburg, making it easier to find what you need nearby.
• Simple Interface: List items for sale, offer services, find rideshares, or post housing requests with just a few taps.
• Direct Communication: Connect easily with other users through our in-app messaging system.
• No Hidden Fees: We don't process payments or take a cut — you deal directly with other users.

Our Vision

We envision Hubcity Mart as the go-to platform for everyday campus needs – whether you're hunting for textbooks that don't cost a fortune, searching for a non-sketchy apartment listing, trying to sell your mini-fridge, or even finding someone trustworthy to sit your cats over break (we've all been there!).

We're still improving, and your feedback helps. Eventually, we plan to grow through referrals so trusted members of the Hattiesburg community can join too.
